Goal Achievement

Have you ever stopped to consider just what it is that makes a person or business successful?  What is the one underlying factor that ties together success in any field, from all walks of life?  Is it talent?  How about hard work?  Many people would say money – it takes money to make money, etc.  But, while all those things are important, there’s actually a much more basic element of any successful endeavor.  Something that every success has in common, and the lack of which is the hallmark of failure.  It’s not money, or hard work, or talent, as important as those are.  It’s goal achievement.
No matter how complicated something is, or how many layers of management an enterprise may be buried under, when you get right down to the nitty gritty, every person or company is trying to achieve goals.  Those that do, prosper, and those that don’t, flounder.  Remarkably, though, most schools and colleges offer little or no training or education in setting goals and and achieving them.  It’s taken for granted, and that’s a shame.  If more people learned how to properly set goals and work toward their accomplishment, the world would be a far better place.

Not only would it be a better place in terms of material goods, but it would also be a happier place.  There are millions of people in this country alone who are depressed, or who have lost their zest for life, their joie de vivre.  Sadly, in many cases that’s because they lack any sense of purpose in life.  Which is just another way of saying that they have no goals for themselves.  Regular, ongoing, goal achievement  seems to be a necessity for human happiness.  Study after study has shown that the happiest, most fulfilled people are those who always have new goals they’re striving toward.  If you ever find yourself in the doldrums, there’s a good chance this is the problem.  Set some new goals for yourself and once again experience the joy of being alive.
