Goal Setting Examples

in Goal setting

If you’re interested in being more successful, you’ve probably heard about the power of goal setting.  Examples of just how powerful this technique is are all over the place.  Actually, referring to goal setting as a technique is probably selling it short.  Some experts on goal setting call it a technology.  When I first heard that term being used in reference to goal setting, I thought that was going a bit overboard.  But the more I learned about just how powerful it is, the more I came to see that the word is perfectly appropriate.
There are countless numbers of people who can testify to the awesome powers of goal setting.  Examples include motivational speakers like Anthony Robbins and Brian Tracy.  It’s a rare person who doesn’t know who Anthony Robbins is.  But when he was a kid in high school, he was overweight and out of shape, and felt like he was going nowhere.  So he decided to make a study of what it takes to be successful, and one of the first things he discovered was the power of setting goals.  He began implementing the practice in his own life, and things turned around for him almost overnight.  He lost the weight he needed to lose, he got in shape, and then he decided what he wanted to achieve in life and came up with a plan to do it.

Brian Tracy is another in the long line of goal setting examples.  He is a high school dropout who grew up dirt poor in Canada in the 1950s.  After dropping out of school, he worked a series of backbreaking jobs.  He realized that he was too smart to spend the rest of his life doing manual labor, and much like Tony Robbins, set out to discover what it takes to become successful.  One of the first things he learned was goal setting, and his life has never been the same.  He’s now one of the nation’s wealthiest men who has written over 40 books, and is considered to be one of the world’s top experts in motivation.  He’s also a highly sought after corporate speaker.  And it’s because of one thing – goal setting.
