Having discipline to achieve your goals

If there is one thing that is needed to achieve goals it is discipline without this fundamental truth, goal setting is next to impossible. We may have all our long term , medium and short term goals written down on paper and have all the energy in the world to achieve them, but realistically at the end of the day if we don’t have the discipline to accomplish them then it will be a down hill battle that will more than likely end up in frustration as you fail to achieve each goal. The definition for discipline actually descends from the word disciple, or to instruct a person to follow a certain code of conduct. Discipline is the willingness and obedience to follow orders or the ability to do the right thing even when no one is watching. For most of us discipline is something that we tend to do automatically without even knowing it, like having to wake each morning to make the kids lunches and breakfast, or doing the gardens and lawns every week, to cleaning the home. So why can’t we apply it to achieving our goals?.I believe it is a snow ball effect, once we start failing to accomplish each goal we loose that positive energy we had when we first put our on paper, we loose all interest and lack the strength to carry on. And yet on the other hand once we start overcoming each goal we start feeling a sense of accomplishment and self gratification which gives us the energy we need to achieve our goals the next one and so on. So this is what i call the snow ball effect it really does matter which way you choose to go it just takes that first initial step to get the ball rolling. And once you do this you will have a positive snow ball effect that will be unstoppable.
